Who doesn't love the Roots?? They have to be one of my favourite hiphop groups! Check out this video.
Recently, filmmakers Jeff Baraka and Cam Be released the short documentary, “The Legendary: A Film About the Roots,” which follows the band as they headlined the Hennessey Artistry tour last year. In the true spirit of any hip-hop head, the pair wanted to shine some light on a group that embodies the spirit of “real hip-hop.”
I'm itching to hear his début album and The Warm Up is one of the most played rap albums (its actually a mix-tape but I reckon its good enough to be a album)that I've listened to since The Game's The Documentary.
I like his story telling ability and that he is not your bubble gum/dope selling/all about yo paper "rapper". His style kinda reminds me of Tupac,Nas,Common. Aside from this he is a breath of fresh air in the stagnant pool of rap and I can't wait for his album Cole World.
Anyways, after an evening prowling youtube for some new music I was glad to come across this BET special so check it out to get a glimpse of the artist.
If you havent heard or seen the video yet, I think you should. Jay Z's song featuring Alicia Keys titled Empire State of Mind is just one of those songs that grabs you.
