3 ways to tell you have a gluten allergy

Via Frugivore Mag

We already knew that carbs are one of the many culprits that can hinder our weight loss goals. What many of us don’t know is that a certain kind of protein called gluten, found in certain carbs, like pasta and wheat bread, can be potentially life threatening for some. Officially called celiac disease, gluten allergies is a problem some people have with foods that contain gluten. Gluten is a kind of protein found in foods like bread, crackers, and pasta. With celiac disease, your immune system attacks the gluten and harms your small intestine when you eat these kinds of foods. This makes it hard for your body to absorb nutrients that keep you healthy.
Gluten comes from grains like wheat, barley, and rye. It’s important to get treatment, because celiac disease can lead to iron deficiency anemia and osteoporosis. It can also raise your risk of lymphoma. Doctors don’t really know what causes the disease, but having certain genes can increase your chance of getting it. You are more likely to have these genes and get celiac disease if a close family member has it. Here are three ways to tell if you have a gluten allergy.

Rapid Weight Loss

Since people with gluten allergies cannot absorb the nutrients their body needs form the foods they eat, many will start to notice that they are rapidly losing weight. If you notice that you are losing weight quickly and you’re not ill or on any kind of restrictive diet, you might want to consult your doctor and have them test you for celiac disease.

Tidbits: KFC's Double Down, Let Femi Kuti Motivate Your Workout...

KFC Double Down - the review
By Lachlan Forsyth
I'd expected the meat sweats.
I'd envisaged the hot flushes.
I'd even anticipated the urge to have a sleep on the Campbell Live couch.
What I hadn't expected was to be seeing stars dancing about my desk and hearing snippets of Jimi Hendrix songs wafting about the office.
I glanced around to see where that ghostly rendition of Purple Haze was coming from, but couldn't see past the shimmering rainbow over by the photocopier. Then it hit me - I was in the clammy grip of food-related delirium.
Maybe it was time for that lie-down.
An hour earlier I'd been working my way through KFC's notorious Double Down burger, part of a crack-team of chicken-eaters who were prepared for a calorific head-trip in the name of entertainment.
Where better to source a group of excitable Double-Down devotees to attend an advance taste-test than online? The Double Down Facebook page (read on here)

Frugivore
They became a follower of my personal twitter account and one click and one google search later I found out who they were and what (frugivore is a fruit eater. It can be any type of herbivore or omnivore where fruit is a preferred food type)

I enjoy their daily posts and most of all, there more I visit the site, the more encouraged I am to go semi vegan.
