Newsbits: J.Cole album, PomCRS Morning Tea...
J. Cole promises no more hold ups
J. Cole is finally gearing up for the release of his debut album, promising fans that there will be "no more hold up." Speaking at a press conference for the 2011 BET Awards, Cole said he was preparing to get deep into the promotional cycle with the release of an as-yet-untitled new single.
"Now it's time," he said. "I always had the material for the album. The hold-up was always picking the right single. I think we knew that there was so much on the line and the potential that I had, so we were kind of hesitant.... [Now,] there's no more hold up."

CNN presents: Scream Bloody Murder
Yesterday (07 Dec) CNN screened a two hour documentary by one of its
long time international correspondents Christiane Amanpour titled Scream Bloody Murder.
Featuring the most prominent cases of genocide since the Holocaust in places such as Cambodia, Iraq, Bosnia, Rwanda and Dafur.
The documentary tells how a handful of people including Francois Ponchaud, Richard Holbrook, Roméo Dallaire, Peter Galbraith and Dr.Mukesh Kapila tried to get the
international community to intervene and stop the killings.
Scream Bloody Murder is a vivid look into how "politics trumps principle" and how the immoral killing of innocent people because
of their ethnicity becomes an inconvenient truth in foreign policy.

Somare sails in deep water
PRIME Minister Sir Michael Somare has a shareholding in a ship safety certification company despite publicly denying his interest in Parliament.
“I do not have any shareholding in PRS (Pacific Register of Ships) and therefore have no reason to disclose anything to the Ombudsman Commission,” he told Parliament early this month when responding to questions by Opposition Leader Sir Mekere Morauta.
But company registration details obtained from the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) show Sir Michael is one of five shareholders of Pacific Register of Ships Limited (PRS). He holds the share “in trust for the Independent State of PNG”. continue reading
Somare's got a lot of skeletons in his closet and its seems they're coming out this spring for cleaning. I wonder what else one would find if he/she dug deeper.

Aussies to release wording of apology
The exact wording of the Australian Federal Governments apology to the Stolen Generation will be revealed in federal parliament after 7pmNZT, just hours before Prime Minister Kevin Rudd gets to his feet in the House of Representatives tomorrow to deliver the long-awaited apology.
Mr Rudd said the government was trying to balance the expectations of the opposition with those of indigenous people.
"Remember who our audience is, which is indigenous people, (who want) to have an apology registered with them through the parliament," he said. An apology to the Stolen Generation was one of Rudd's promises that he said he would fulfil when elected into government. continue reading
New discovery in battle against AIDS
Researchers have found another handle that the AIDS virus uses to attack cells, and said this one may explain how it gets into the gut, where it hides out and multiplies for a full assault on the body.
The handle is a cell receptor, and its discovery could open new ways to fight the fatal and so far incurable virus, the team at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases reported on Sunday. continue reading

Post does a Gordon Bennett (snr)
The Post has again, although mildly, been told to know it boundaries after it conducted separate interviews of Toy Molly (who suffered brutal abuse that lead to the death of her unborn child) and her husband who is the accused of the abuse, a case which has been given a lot of coverage in the paper over the last two weeks.

If you can't stand the heat...
"PRIME Minister Sir Michael Somare yesterday revealed he would introduce legislation to regulate the media.
Fuming at yesterday’s front page article in the Post-Courier which detailed his discreet arrival in Port Moresby from America, the Chief told Parliament it was time the country’s daily newspapers were regulated as they continue to publish anti-Government stories." SOURCE
When governments start talking bout regulating the media, the people should start asking serious questions. Start regulating freedom of speech and then you take away people's basic rights. While the Post Courier ran this on their front page, I could not find any story bout that in the National Online. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I wonder what happened there?

Pacific News Section added to the Post online
PNG's number one daily has added a Pacific News Section onto their online content. Did anyone else spot this or am I on the late bus? It took me a minute to realise this but good on them for doing that! Although I must add that it would be better if they placed it under the main News Section rather than under the Post Courier Says Section. All in due course I suppose...

Update on NZ to PNG txting
Let me clarify things. I'm referring to Vodafone NZ (note the "NZ to PNG txting" in the post title)
Digicel have gotten their wires crossed.
Let me use bullet points to avoid confusion:
- Telecom (NZ) customers can txt Digicel numbers
-Digicel customers cannot txt Telecom numbers
-Digicel customers can txt Vodafone numbers
-Vodafone customers cannot txt Digicel numbers
I guess their main priority is to get interconnectivity between their customers and BMobile and even that hasn't gone to plan.
