A Day in the Life: double dose of bad news- I'll miss you Patricia Negints! :'(

Its gonna hit me like a tonne of bricks when I step off that plane.
Its never good going home, when your purpose is to say goodbye and even more so when the death was avoidable.

Precious are the breaths we draw and the moments we spend with loved ones. When they go so suddenly-damn its unbearable. In rush in the whys, hows and blame game but pouring over the sequence of moments leading up to that time-cannot alter that state of the present.

This is sending my world reeling. Its doesn't feel like you're gone Pat and I don't want to come back knowing you won't be there.

I'm taking a deep breath and biding my time till I land in Pom and reality sets in...

"She who has gone, so we but cherish her memory, abides with us, more potent, nay, more present than the living man"~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Fragility, Mere mortal, no invincible, life is short-thoughts on Keegan

On Tuesday 22nd Feburary 2011, Keegan Willams passed away. He was a son, nephew, friend, flat mate, boyfriend. This guy was full of life, bursting with energy and talent and it was only three weekends ago that they he and friends had been looking for, of all things a hack saw so that they could cut a lock from a boat and go out fishing.

I didn't know you very well but the one time I saw you, I recall this bright smile and wave you gave when we drove Harry by your house last year. In that single moment I saw a glimpse of the person your were and for me I felt this was someone you had to meet and kick it with, at least once so that you can soak a up a little bit of their aura. I'm saddened that I did not get to do that.

Gone too soon is simply the thought that comes to mind when I think about you. And its in moments like this that I am suddenly reminded of the fragility of life and the realness of the saying "tomorrow is not promised".

Your passing has taught me, if anything, to be thankful of the days I have, to bask in the presence of my loved ones, to remind them that I love them and most of all to carry myself with at least a fraction of the positive energy you had.

You'll be missed Keegan.
Rest in eternal peace in the Lord's arms.

Nicki Minaj in Blackbook Magazine

I came across this on the YBF. Pictures were taken for a spread of her in Blackbook magazine. I like the colour of the shoes she's wearing-they look like Chucks. Notice how they have heals on them (((different))) aye. BTW I like them without the heals.

See the story on The Meteoric Rise of Nicki Minaj in this month's Blackbook magazine here

“The Legendary: A Film About the Roots.

Who doesn't love the Roots?? They have to be one of my favourite hiphop groups! Check out this video.

Recently, filmmakers Jeff Baraka and Cam Be released the short documentary, “The Legendary: A Film About the Roots,” which follows the band as they headlined the Hennessey Artistry tour last year. In the true spirit of any hip-hop head, the pair wanted to shine some light on a group that embodies the spirit of “real hip-hop.”

Images: Alvin Lee - ESPN Rise Magazine -Video Game Issue

Art work was done by Alvin Lee and colour by Fabian Schlaga for ESPN's Rise Magazine for High School Atheletes in the States. Click on the Links to visit each players short story/origin.

The idea was simple: Let’s take four of the nation’s best high school athletes and turn them into video game characters. And let’s get one of the best comic book and video game artists in the world to help us do it.

Enter Alvin Lee, a Toronto native who made his name drawing Street Fighter comics and Capcom video games and has also worked on famous franchises like the Fantastic Four and X-Men for Marvel Comics.

A film YOU SHOULD SEE!: RiP: A remix manifesto and More than a Game

I'm battling flu like symptoms but doctor says its allergies-I'm blaming my mum's rose garden right outside my lil house. I stayed at home today cos I felt like a sick dog and I didn't want to infect my co-workers or rattle customers with my sniffles and sneezing. Anyways, whilst slouching on the couch barely able to sit upright, I caught two cool movies- RiP: A remix manifesto and More than a Game.

Rip: A remix manifesto
I only caught the last 40 minutes of the 1 and a half hour film but I got that it was a film about intellectual property-the race to patent and protect ideas as well as how the protagonists were looking to and encourage us to look to Brazil-a melting pot within itself and how they were addressing copyright and intellectual property (case where Brazil was creating their own anteretroviral drugs by copying patented antretroviral drugs and were able to provide them as largely cheaper prices)

I really want to catch the whole movie so I'm on the look out for the rerun.

More than a Game:
The movie follows Lebron James and four of his close friends/basketball team mates during their time on the high school basket ball team.

I enjoy basket ball, I played a little during primary school and high school and I had my favourite players and team in the NBA.

I didn't get to follow Lebron's rise to the NBA but it was impressive to see glimpses of his talent and rise to fame during the film. He comes across as a likeable guy. They made it well and isn't really about him-they made it about their journey and I'm glad they didn't let his fame/status outshine the others or take over the film.

Sooo over it!

I saw 3 things on facebook today that made me see red. I read about an incident in the highlands regard Belgium couple, I read about an ethnic clash in Port Moresby and I read about an incident of racism in a Brisbane grocery store.

The story about the Belgian couple hit me the hardest and is beyond comprehension. I am struggling to find the words to describe the intense and overwhelming feelings I have regarding people's continuous and conscious disrespect of there fellow man-of our fellow man.

It makes me want to go ape sh*t and ninja assassin and kick some ass because this should not be happening. It just shouldn't. Our youth and people are losing their way and there seems to be no road to redemption. It gets me down and makes me question my motives about going back to a counry where we-the people are self destructive and sabotaging any chance we have of moving forward.

I get that we as a country have a long way to go with strengthening our economic and social welfare and all that good stuff(I apologise for over simplifying this) but we need to start really looking out for each other and really taking care of each other and really RESPECTING each other n STOP acting like animals and lunatics and greedy children (yes MPs I'm talking about some of you and your fat salaries and handouts, not to mention your fat bellies). It starts in your homes ya'll and then your families (cos we are big with families in PNG) and your communities.
This ish MUST change!

BTW the image is by lebllues seen on deviantart. Found it when I did a google search :P
